Meet the Officers

President: Brenna Williams

Brenna has been the President of Active Minds since Winter 2014. She is a 4th year majoring in Psychology and Evolutionary Anthropology. She hopes to continue with her passion for promoting mental health by going to graduate school to become a counselor. Her favorite part about being involved with Active Minds is the ability to make a real difference in how the students and the community of UC Davis talk, think about, and perceive mental health and mental illness

Co-Vice President: Julia Flickinger

Julia is currently the Vice President for Active Minds. She has been in the club and served as an officer for the last 2 years. She is a 4th year double major in Psychology and Human Development. She aspires to work with at-risk youth and others struggling with mental illnesses. Active Minds first caught her attention because of her passion to educate others about mental health. She wants her peers to begin talking about it too.

Co-Vice President: Anjali Bhat

Anjali is thrilled to be Co-Vice President of Active Minds! She is a second-year majoring in Communication & Economics with a minor in Spanish. She plans to be a journalist someday, and her love for Active Minds comes from a passion for stories of all kinds. She believes that your story matters — and that the destigmatization of mental illness, especially for young people, is vitally important. She works together with the other officers and members of Active Minds to make UC Davis a more welcoming and inclusive space for all of us.

Treasurer and Secretary: Nichelle Esquitin

Nichelle is the Secretary and Treasurer for Active Minds. She is a 4th year majoring in Psychology and Human Development. After struggling with depression in high school, Nichelle became passionate about mental health and started reading books to help herself. Now she is looking to take what she’s learned in her own experiences with mental illness to the greater Davis community. She hopes to open up a dialogue about suicide and de-stigmatize mental illness so that more people are willing to ask for help. She also works in the kitchen at the CoHo so don’t be afraid to say hello if you see her in a blue apron.

Internal Affairs: Caitlin Isobe

Caitlin is the Internal Affairs Officer for active minds. She is a fourth year majoring in psychology and communications. Caitlin is very passionate about helping with mental health advocacy and is interning for the Behavioral Health Center of Excellence at UC Davis. She hopes that UCDavis is a place where students feel they can share their feelings and thoughts without feeling judged

Co-Public Relations: Amanda Geiger

Amanda is a senior with a Psychology Major and English Minor. She is also a supervisor at the UC Davis Coffee House.  She joined Active Minds because she was really interested in mental health and she aspires to one day become a therapist for those who struggle with depression and anxiety. She became even more passionate about reducing the stigma associated with mental illness after joining active minds. This club showed her that there are so many people at UCD fighting to change the way people talk about mental illness.  Her passion also stems from a long family history of mental illness and she wants more people to feel comfortable speaking out about their struggles without fear of shame or stigma

Co-Public Relations: Marielle Pastor

Mari is the co-public relations Officer for Active Minds. She is a member of the Women’s Soccer team at UC Davis and a 4th year majoring in Psychology and Communication with a minor in Coaching (physical edcuation). Growing up in a family battling mental health struggles, Mari developed a passion for mental health advocacy at a young age. She hopes through Active Minds to extend the conversation about mental health around campus and in the community.

Event Planner: Hadley Roberts-Donnelly

Hadley is the Events Chair for Active Minds. She is a first year majoring in English. Hadley became passionate about mental health advocacy after suffering from a severe concussion while playing soccer. During her recovery, she learned a lot about the complexity of the brain and what it means to struggle with a mental illness versus a physical illness. Hadley hopes to bring awareness to the importance of mental wellness at UC Davis and beyond.

Fundraising Chair: Helen Mylod Yee

Helen is a third year at Davis studying psychology and minoring in spanish and education. Her personal struggle with mental health as well as the experiences of those close to her have strongly motivated her to work towards raising awareness about mental health, and she would love to be able to spread positivity and hope to members of the Davis community and beyond. She truly believes that mental health is extremely important and should be talked about more - as it is something that affects so many of our lives.
